Building Moxie’s Characters and Contributors
* jb (the MC) – I began blogging to explore ideas around a new business, also called Building Moxie. But as I got into it, I began to write more, more about the fundamental reasons for, and the related challenges with, performing home improvement. I am a Software Quality Assurance Engineer and I have come to believe that Home Improvement isn’t much different than developing software. It’s Incremental and Iterative, it’s often only as good as the collaborations you have.
I am reminded frequently that “It” often isn’t as easy as following a how-to recipe or some framework. But … I do believe that anyone can do, and that the best way to learn to do . . . is to do. For a deeper looking to the madness, please see – Meet Mr. Moxie || My Life is a Home Project.

* b (the sounding board aka Barry Morgan) – Life’s turning points are often the result of an arbitrary choice going on to have a profound and lasting effect. A friend of mine calls this – The whim becomes a way of life.
One such whim for me was moving into a dilapidated, century-old schoolhouse in my early twenties. Without this house, where I still live, I most probably would not have become a carpenter, and, later, would not have associated with this blog.

* Jennifer Ingool (Mrs. Moxie) – Jen has been a Real Estate Agent for 20 years. (Now with Compass Real Estate). I am constantly impressed by how hard she works for her clients. Unless you’re the spouse of a real estate agent, you’d be amazed at how frequently I personally get sucked in. You seen her on the site, and I posted about a few up-models (aka flips), she did with a partner named Paul (the Other Man) between 2012-2016. (They were fun and profitable, but god damn – flipping at least around Baltimore, has gotten so cutthroat (thank you HGTV) – so they don’t do that anymore).
She has never contributed an article to the site, but frankly I couldn’t imagine doing any of this without her. To read more >> Meet Mrs. Moxie || An Interview with Real Estate Superstar Jennifer Ingool. ~jb

* Evyn & Eva (The Baby Moxies) – Occasionally you might see one or our 2 daughters on this site. Much younger, they are both now in college (2024). Interesting they both have shown signs of great skill when it comes to real estate and home improvement. I am interested to see where that goes. * The Guest Room (The Do Together) – Through the years we hosted countless Guest Posts. On the shorter side, I hope they always added some value for you – maybe provided an answer to some question you might have had, or at least provided some entertainment. For the record, Building Moxie was fortunate enough – these posts were never, ever paid for or bought. Read More >> Our Disclosure Statement. ~jb
